Software as a Service (SaaS)

Whether you’re getting your hair cut, giving someone a call on your mobile or watching your favourite film on Netflix, the concept is the same.

You’re not just paying for a product, you’re paying for a service.

Products don’t last forever, they’re expensive, they can break and you need to know how to use them. You’re the one doing all the work.

Services do last forever.

Instead of paying £1000’s of pounds for something, you pay an affordable recurring fee. Each month you pay for that service. Someone is taking care of everything for you; making sure it’s there when you need it, enhancing it, fixing it, providing you with the support and guidance you need to get the most out of it. With a service you are just one phone call away from talking to an expert with years of experience in dealing with that service. You wouldn’t cut your own hair, would you? Similarly you wouldn’t pay a hairdresser once and expect a lifetime supply of haircuts.

So, apply this concept to Software – and there you have it, Software as a Service (SaaS).

Webchieve are proud to provide an award winning service with everything you need to keep your website online and ensure you get the most out of it.

The majority of providers charge additional fees for many of these services.

We don’t. Everything listed below is included in every package we offer at no additional cost to yourself. Here’s a breakdown so that you can see what you’re getting and why you need it, without the jargon!

Choosing a Website

So, you need a website but you don’t know where to start. I don’t blame you, as unless you’re in the industry the options are overwhelming – from large providers to trendy freelance web designers it seems like every man and his dog are offering some kind of service to get you on the web.

So Sam, if there’s so much out there why’s it so difficult to get on the web?

Well, the answer is simple – unless you’re Apple Inc. boasting record breaking profits you’re going to find it hard to engage with a web agency. Ever wonder why there isn’t a price in sight when you trawl through their website? That’s because they tend to charge anywhere between £5,000£15,000 for a content managed site. And everything’s an extra. That’s right, you want to climb up the search engines? Another £2,500 please. Want to track how many visitors are accessing your site? Another £800 please. Oh you want a mobile friendly website? That’ll be an Another £3,000 please. This is on top of the standing charge needed to keep the service active.

Ok, but I know a guy that knows a guy whos sister’s friend makes websites. Can’t he just make me one?

Sure he can. But chances are if he isn’t an experienced web developer then you run the risk of it looking like something that has been created by a five year old. And this will damage your brand, probably doing more harm than good. Also, is he going to have the time and the motivation to keep your site up and running? And what happens when there’s a problem? This is often where things go wrong with smaller outfits and is why companies end up paying thousands to web agencies in the first place.

But I saw a great website that says I can do it all myself for free?

If only companies were that generous. Unfortunately these companies are not charities and instead lure you with the desire of a free or cheap website, only for you to then discover in the small print that after the first 3 months you will be charged between £15 – 40 per month thereafter. And what’s more, you have to do all the work yourself. That’s right, yesterday you were an electrician and today you’re expected to be a designer, developer and content writer. Sure, you’ll have some pre-built templates that look like everyone else’s website but that doesn’t change the fact that you have to build the whole thing on your own. What’s more as these website builders rely on templates they are very rigid and you will end up constrained to what they allow you to do, not with what you actually want.

Well that sucks.
